The southern Rhône Valley is the home of this spicy, redcurrant fruited wine that is a blend of Grenache, Carignan and Cinsault. However unusually this has a very high proportion of Syrah in the blend, so it is rich, meaty and powerful - akin to a Northern Rhône.
- Press:
- Jane MacQuitty in The Times, 14/02/15:
"Chunky 14 per cent, Syrah, Grenache and Carignan-based red Rhone, whose bold, inky, damson and raspberry fruit is just the ticket with stew or venison steak."
Matthew Jukes in The Daily Mail Magazine, 29/11/14:
"Yet another magnificent and incredibly good value wine, this is made from a terrific, black fruit-stuffed blend of Syrah and Grenache. It really does put entry-level Châteauneuf-du-Pape (costing £15) to shame."
