- Champagne Brugnon can be traced all the way back to the end of the 19th century, when Constant Paul and Pauline Pontillart bought the first 20 acres of vineyard. Their daughter Henriette married Ludovic Brugnon and Champagne Brugnon was formed. Officially producing their first bottle of Champagne in 1930, by 1939 they were producing a modest 500 bottles per year. The business flourished in the 1970s with Henriettes grandson Marc taking the firm to new heights. Today, Marcs son Phillipe runs the 1850 hectare estate. He uses as few chemicals and pesticides in the vineyards as possible, and insists on the essential ageing of his wines. Whereas the law states a non-vintage cuvée must be aged for 15 months, Philippe ages his for a minimum of 3 years!
Wonderful biscuity full and complex award winning 1er Cru Champagne that has been a great favourite of the Royal household. Excellent value for money.
- 'In a way it has too much fruit - a high-toned, scented jumble of apple sauce and pear flesh with added pudding spice and a splash of cream. Too much fruit for Champagne? We should be grateful. The usual problem is not enough.' Oz Clarke - Top 250 Best Wines Guide 2009

- Food match:
Champagne is incredibly versatile in terms of the foods it can complement. For something a little different, try a glass with sushi. Go easy on the wasabi, and the match is just sublime!
