- The majority of Famila Cassone's vineyards are 90 years old and are located in the prime Drummond area of Luján de Cuyo in Southwest Mendoza, 950 metres above sea level. The wines are fermented in their high-tech winery before ageing in French oak barrels. These are wonderful wines that marry modern freshness of fruit with structure and complexity.
Hand harvested at the end of March the wine undergoes a long warm maceration before fermentation. It is then aged for 6 months in a combination of French and American oak.
Big and punchy but still with some elegance. This is fruit forward with plums, raisins and blackcurrants, all supported by a beautiful layer of smoky sweet oak. The palate is rich and mouthfilling with very expressive and concentrated fruits. The long finish is surprisingly fresh. Drinking well now, but will keep for a good eight years too.
