- Without a doubt, Johannes Leitz is one of the three young stars of the Rheingau, working hard to elevate the profile of the region. Starting out young, a result of his father's untimely death, he has dramatically expanded his holdings from five hectares to 26 and worked hard to consistently improve quality. His diverse range of wines is tied together by their vitality and buoyancy, yet they all show their site specificity in a remarkable fashion. Johannes only produces Riesling and what makes his wines really special is the diversity of the soils he works with, leading him to produce intense, minerally and complex wines. Not the most famous name in German Riesling, but easily one of the very best.
Superbly complex, delicately balanced top quality sweet wine made in tiny quantities. This is everything that Riesling trockenbeerenauslese should be about - stunning wine.
