- Le Cave de Gigondas is situated near the medieval village of Montmirail, and has vineyard holdings in three classic Rhone areas - Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise. This top class co-operative also produces a Muscat de Beaumes de Venise natural sweet wine. The Cave was founded in the late 1960s, when a number of good local growers joined together to produce wines from their separate vineyard plots. The style of their wines are full, rich and spicy and there is no doubt that this is a good producer making very good wine from very good vineyard holdings.
Dark red colour with a savoury ripeness on the nose with red fruits with sweet herbs, hints of musky flowers and raspberry fruit from the Grenache. The palate leans towards kirsch, with a cherry stone tangy burst on the long aromatic finish. 80% Grenache, 10% Syrah, 10% Mourvedre. Top class wine!
