Other Info:
In 2002, five years after acquiring Château Léoube, owner Sir Anthony Bamford approached the estate's winemaker, Romain Ott, with a radical proposition: what if, for one cuvée, they dispensed with regional tradition and introduced the first red Bordeaux-style blend to Provence? They are now making wines with character that are true to their terroir, while remaining respectful of nature. Following a back-to-basics philosophy, they believe in strengthening the land's biodiversity and natural defences by employing traditional growing methods and using only natural, non-toxic treatments. As such, the grapes are all harvested by hand, in tune with the seasonal and lunar cycles. Their belief is that if you respect the balance of the plant then you will get the most balanced fruit in return, and the flourishing of the vines (and olive trees) at Léoube stand as testimony to this approach. Success required time, patience and the uniquely talented hand of Ott, but the use of Cabernet Sauvignon, Cabernet Franc, and Merlot presents a thrilling opportunity to distinguish Léoube as an innovator in a region historically synonymous with Rosé. Ultimately, it took Bamford and Ott nearly a decade to create a wine that satisfied their unwaveringly high standards and the result - Léoube Collector, their top wine which is aged in demi-muid French oak for 24 months is a masterful achievement.

Chateau Léoube's top red wine - made from 100% organic Cabernet Franc grapes. This is a very rich expression of this variety, with dark blackcurrant fruit, characteristic notes of green pepper and mocha, and enough tannin to suggest long ageing potential.

Press:
"Château Léoube's position overlooking the Mediterranean means that this full bodied Cabernet Franc has a freshness and briskness that is unique and rarely associated with the wines of the south of France" - Karen MacNeil, The Wine Bible.
