- Benoît Tarlant is one of Champagne's forward-thinking winemakers and is
one of the few Champenois still to vinify much of his wine in barrel. With a
superb domaine centred on Oeuilly in the Vallée de la Marne, Benoît has
top-quality Pinot Noir, Pinot Meunier and Chardonnay from which he
fashions an impressive range of wines. Réserve is a blend of equal
proportions of all three varieties whereas Tradition is over 90% black
grapes. Brut Nature Zéro is disgorged without the addition of any sugar, a
rare truly dry Champagne.
The first fermentation takes place in barrel, which contributes structure to the final wine. Following second fermentation in the bottle, the wine spends nearly six years on its lees, well above the minimum for non-vintage Champagne which is 12 months. Dosage is 6g/l, meaning this is a drier style of Champagne.
