- Ashton Hills is a three hectare, dry-grown vineyard that lies in the Piccadilly Valley sub region of the Adelaide Hills on a ridge just below the summit of Mount Lofty. The estate was founded by Stephen George in 1982 and since that time it has built a reputation as one of Australia's finest proponents of pinot noir and cool climate whites.
The top cuvée from this excellent Australian estate. Dark, sweet and ripe fruit with flavours of wild strawberry, and cherry. Earthy undertones typical of great Pinot are evident on the palate, alongside a warming spice. This wine will only gain in complexity over the coming decade.
- "Parcels of all five clones grown on the estate passed the strict selection process, the wine matured in French oak (33% new). The bouquet is very fragrant and no less complex with its exploration of wild strawberries picked before full ripeness, the full box of exotic spices, and fine but unrelenting tannins. Not an easy vintage for pinot
noir, but this is seriously good. 96 Points." - James Halliday, Halliday Magazine, March 2018
