Australian born oenologist Peter Bright has been making wine in Portugal’s Alentejo region since the 1980s. He brought with him a New World sensibility – modern winemaking and a focus on upfront fruit – and applied it to Old World terroir, and has seen the region become a producer of some of Portugal’s most exciting wines. Peter’s Terra d’Alter range is representative of where Alentejo is today. A blend of the traditional and modern, combining native Portuguese grape varieties such as Touriga Nacional and Alfrocheiro with the more familiar names of Syrah, Viognier and Cabernet Sauvignon.

We will be lucky enough to have Peter himself – the original ‘flying winemaker’ – on hand to take us through a flight of six Terra d’Alter wines. We’ll taste both white and red wines, touching on a broad range of grape varieties. We hope you’ll join us for what promises to be a fascinating look at one of our favourite producers, presented by the man who made it all happen.
