As we head into the belly of midsummer, the arrival of garden parties, late nights sitting out to watch the sun set or, being in England the chance of a few showers and days tucked indoors, our British farmhouse cheesemakers are in full swing and there are so many wonderful products to choose from. Slicing a piece of 12-month-old Hafod Cheddar; juicy, herbal and creamy from the happy Ayrshire cows of last summer is definitely one of my favourite past times and there is just no better pairing than a crisp, flinty Chablis!
If you didn’t know already our Turl Street Manager, Paris Barghchi has an affinity to cheese and wine! With a career of 15 years in the restaurant industry followed by time working for Neal’s Yard Dairy, specialist selectors and matures of British Farmhouse Cheese and a little dabble in cheesemaking her passions for cheese and wine are infinite.
We will be tasting four cheese from the British Farmhouse cheese industry alongside six wines in a variety of styles from around the world all chosen with the connotations of British Summer Time in mind and a focus on what works with which cheese and why. Of course, food and wine pairings have some rules but are in many ways a personal adventure and this is something to celebrate.
