The name Beronia is linked to the history of the land on which it lies. In the 3rd century BC, the area known today as La Rioja was inhabited by the Berones, a Celtic warrior tribe whose earliest settlements established the boundaries of the Beronia region, today´s La Rioja. Founded in 1973 by a group of wine-loving entrepreneurs, Bodegas Beronia makes Reserva and Gran Reserva wines in the pure, traditional Rioja style. They are famous for the use of barrels made from both American and French oak, and for making great quality wines of superb Riojan character. Wines maturing in the barrel cellars are subject to Gregorian chant music 24 hours a day which the Bodega says improves the wine.
David Hayward will take us through a fascinating range which encompasses both pure traditional styles and more modern, single grape varietals – all made by this superb producer.
