Founded by William Févre, whose family had been based in Chablis for centuries and whose father was himself a very successful winemaker, the domaine is aligned for quality production. William Févre declared his first vintage in 1959, produced from just seven hectares. Over the years, the domaine grew and has now become one of the biggest land owners in Chablis with 78 hectares of prestigious vineyards. Nearly 16 hectares are classified as premier cru and 15 hectares are grand cru.

The winemaking at Domaine William Févre aims to let these top vineyards sing. Hand harvesting and gentle pressing ensure a delicate and elegant final product. They use older oak barrels to obtain a richness in the wines which sits as a backdrop to the aromatic, primary fruit character and the mineral delicacy, rather than masking them.
