Picpoul de Pinet

The Picpoul Blanc white grape is grown in Languedoc, southern France. Piquepoul, another spelling, meant "lip-stinger" in local slang—a reference to the wine's zippy character. During the early 20th century, it was used to make aromatic Vermouth, but modern examples from the Pinet appellation offer a refreshing taste of lemons and almonds.
