The Barons de Rothschild family are most famous for their estates in Bordeaux and their history is long and detailed. The family own much more than just Bordeaux estates however (including Rieussec, bought in 1984) and in 1988 they purchased the Los Vascos Estate in Chile. In 1998 they started the Caro project in conjunction with Nicolas Catena in Argentina. Today they own several vineyards and wineries throughout the world and bring with them their knowledge and expertise in crafting truly fine wines.
Domaine BdR covers a wealth of vineyards in many different countries. They have various properties in and around Bordeaux as well as operations in Chile, Argentina, the South of France and South Africa.
We have all heard of Lafite Rothschild but few of us can afford to drink it. By producing wines in various countries and regions they have opened the doors to many more people being able to enjoy their history and skill in producing top class wines.
Within the BdR stable Aruma in Argentina and Los Vascos in Chile are particular standouts as is the Chateau d'Aussieres in Corbieres.
