This grape is associated with the Loire valley and produces great still, sparkling and sweet wines in both Touraine and Anjou-Saumur regions. The wines can be mineral with green apple flavours like Savennieres or dry and off-dry with ripe tropical flavours from Vouvray. The sparkling Cremant de Loire is Chenin based and the AC's of Quarts de Chaume and Bonnezeaux can produce sweet wine that can rival those of Sauternes in their best years. You can also find some great example wines in South Africa.
