Founded in 1970 by Alfons Giovanett, the original winery was based in Neumarket in the south of the Alto Adige and worked mostly with Pinot Noir and Schiava. In 1989 Alfons' son Gunther took over and moved the winery to the small village of Kurinig in the very south of the region. Through the purchase of new vineyards and building of relationships with local growers, the winery introduced white varieties to their portfolio. Today Gunther's two children are also part of this very special producer.
The winery is based in Kurinig in the very south of the Sud Tyrol region. The variety of the landscape in South Tyrol is matched by its diverse grape varieties, which are the result the extraordinary interplay of climate and soil conditions in the most varied microclimates. The 50 hectares of vineyards of Castelfeder Winery spread from Salorno to Bolzano with an annual production of approximately 400,000 bottles.
TCastelfeder are one of the very best producers in the entire region and craft elegant, precise and flavoursome wines. They are truly a family affair and remain true to their roots.
The Gewurztraminer is a must and their Pinot Grigio does far more than one might expect.
