Canaiolo

A Tuscany native grape typically used as a softening complement to Sangiovese in the blands of Chianti and Vino Nobile. It produces a soft mellow wine with gentle tannins. A grape rich in history, with its first mention registered in the 14th Century and cited as "Canajuola" and described as "lovely grape, one to cherish and protect".
