Bodega Raffy was founded in the late noughties by the Raffy family. Choosing to set up in Argentina instead of their native France their dream was to craft a boutique winery from the ground up and to present wines of quality and expression.
The winery is located in the Tupungato region of the Uco Valley, in the south of Mendoza. Adjacent to the Andes this is the highest region in the area and is exceptionally pure in every sense. Almost at the base of the Andes themselves and in the shadow of the Tupungato volcano, the sandy and alluvial soils challenge the vine, giving grapes of concentration and finesse.
To say the winery is boutique is an understatement; the estate covers a tiny 8.5 hectares dedicated entirely to Malbec and produces only 100,000 bottles annually. Under the direction of Marcelo Pelleriti, a highly sought after and respected wine consultant , the wines are crafted with great care and attention. All fruit is manually harvested and sorted and the bodega uses only French oak.
Currently the estate only produces wine from the Malbec variety, including a rosé. The two stand out wines are the Cuvée Terroir Malbec which is both elegant and fruity with a delicate texture from 6 months old French oak and the Grande Réserve Malbec. This wine sees 36 months new French oak and incredible concentration of fruit, coming from some of the vineyards 50+ year old vines.
