Around The World In 6 Whiskies Thursday 20/11/14
Hosted by Lee Isaacs & Aljoscha Wright
The Oxford Wine Company, 165 Botley Road, Oxford, OX2 0PB.
The last of our 2014 spirits events took us into the wonderful world of whisk(e)y. Aljoscha and I love our whisky and what better time of year than to put on a tasting such as this? Over 90 minutes we guided a sell out crowd through the history, ingredients and processes involved in crafting everyone's favourite brown drink.
We looked at 6 different whiskies from 6 different countries in an effort to understand just how complex and sophisticated whisky can be. Of course we visited Scotland, showing the delicious Glengoyne 10 year old; I have fond memories of drinking this with a couple of the guys from here at an awards evening in London. I should have more memories but quite a lot of their whisky was involved! At the end of this slightly raucous evening we took a vote on which whisky was the most popular. The vote was tied with the Japanese and Inidan whiskies winning! Who saw that coming?
