Theo’s Fine Wine Mixed 6 Bottle Case Offer for Winter
Ref. 11002
As usual there are some great new wines here that I have included in this offer (some of them a mere matter of days old as I write) but also I just had to include one of our best selling and brilliant wines as well – namely the Guy Allion Sauvignon de Touraine. Why did I include it? Quite simply because it’s really very good wine at a very affordable price – and everyone loves it. If you haven’t tried it yet you’ve missed out – this is brilliant wine.
Domaine Guy Allion Sauvignon de Touraine 2008, Loire Valley - £7.99
Years ago Touraine Sauvignon was often rather damp and boring with no real zing to it. Not anymore. The French have learnt a bit from the Kiwis and are now making beautifully crisp clean styles that positively burst with fruit. Great stuff.
Gruner Veltliner Gerlissen 2008, Austria - £9.99
We’re seeing more and more Gruners over here now and they are slowly being recognized as a quality wine. Wonderful slate bed minerality combined with clean fresh and structured fruit make for a great drink – especially with seafood for example.
White Hall Vineyards Viognier 2007, Virginia - £16.95
Virginia has just burst onto the international wine scene with their aromatic restrained Viogniers and this is a prime example. Hints of semi floral notes and peaches are nicely balanced by good acidity which keeps the wine fresh and leads it to a beautifully long finish driven by the aromatics – top class.
Tapiz Syrah 2006, Argentina - £8.99
I can’t believe how similar this wine is to northern Rhone Syrah – there’s white pepper and leather notes, very good structure and fine grained tannins that have just softened enough to create the perfect balance with the fruit, subtle oak and acidity. Extremely good with a serious steak.
Quinta da Terrugem 2005, Portugal – £15.95
New wave Portugal at its best – soft, rich and smooth with deep black cherry fruit and creamy overtones plus a good long finish. Just what the doctor ordered.
Montes Purple Angel 2005, Chile - £24.95
Aurelio Montes is known as the main force behind the drive to produce premium Chilean wines and this one is a prime example of very serious winemaking using 92% Carmenere and 8% Petit Verdot to produce a super rich, intense and beautifully poised aromatic style bolstered by both French and American oak. Just superb wine.
