- Other info: Pinot Grigio, or Pinot Gris as it is known in Alsace, is closely related to Pinot Noir and its pinky-grey berries can look more like black grapes than white. In fact, it has enough colour to make some really savoury, sappy rosés in the north of Italy. The family resemblance is more than skin-deep, however. After tasting one of the fleshiest Alsace examples, you may think that it looks like a white wine but tastes more like a red. The Nagyréde Estate in Hungary produces a delightful medium bodied rosé with rather more fruit than many examples from Northern Italy.
