Grüner Veltliner, Rieden Selection
Ref. 0251
This green-tinged wine has a citrus nose of lime and peach which is followed by flavours of melon, green apples, spicy hay and stone-fruit minerality. A refreshingly different wine with a waxy texture and a good long finish.
- Colour: White
- Grapes: Grüner Veltliner
- Vintage: 2008
- Closure: screwcap
- Alcohol: 12.5%
- Other info: Grüner Veltliner is Austria’s own white variety: although lots of attention has focused on Austrian Riesling, there’s actually an awful lot more Grüner Veltliner planted (by a factor of 10). Now it’s rightfully regarded as the centrepiece of Austria’s wine industry. It is capable of making deliciously complex, full flavoured, spicy whites often with a distinctive white flower and cracked pepper edge to them. Good wine and refreshingly different too.
