Graves Supérieures is a relatively unknown appelation, most Châteaux in this area prefer to make either red or dry whites. Château La Fleur des Pins is made in the same style as Haut Bergeron and goes through a intense fruit selection at the time of harvest. Rather than harvesting all at once. The fruit is picked anywhere from 8-12 times before the final selection is made. It is then vinified in the same style as Sauternes and aged in new French Oak for 12 months. 25,000 bottles are produced each year. When tasted blind among Bordeaux top Sauternes Château La Fleur des Pins is always selected as one of the top Sauternes yet the price is 30% of the average Sauternes.
