- Vinas del Jaro sits one mile from the back of the mighty Duero river, and this body of moving water effects the climate by moderating temperatures. A century-old forest of holm oak trees (known locally as 'Jaro') surround the vineyard and give this estate its name. Vinas del Jaro is owned by the Osborne family, Spanish natives with ties to the Spanish wine industry going back as far as the 20th century when the Osbornes were significant producers and traders in Sherry. Drawn from 100% Tempranillo grown in Pesquera de Duero—a historic center for Spanish wine production going back to ancient times
The aim with this wine was to express the primary fruit characteristics of the Tempranillo grape. The wine spends four months in 300l new French barrels, so has a touch of oak, and the tannins are soft and ripe.
