- Le Cave de Gigondas is situated near the medieval village of Montmirail, and has vineyard holdings in three classic Rhone areas - Gigondas, Vacqueyras and Beaumes de Venise. This top class co-operative also produces a Muscat de Beaumes de Venise natural sweet wine. The Cave was founded in the late 1960s, when a number of good local growers joined together to produce wines from their separate vineyard plots. The style of their wines are full, rich and spicy and there is no doubt that this is a good producer making very good wine from very good vineyard holdings.
Plump and juicy, this blend of 60% Grenache, 30% Syrah and 5% each of Cinsault and Mourvèdre offers mouth-watering flavours of plum and wild strawberry flavours. It's an approachable wine that you can enjoy right away with flavours of roasted meat and white pepper spice and has good fresh acidity and soft, velvety tannins. Hints of spice and caramel lift the midpalate, leading to a long fruitful finish.
