Violet eau-de-vie
- A former wine establishment, the Edmond Briottet firm was set up in 1836.
- Given the growing popularity of the "white wine-cassis" aperitif, Edmond Briottet gradually switched over to producing Crème de Cassis. Since then, each successive generation of the Briottet family has worked at the firm.
- Liqueur de Violette has a delicious syrupy, icing sugar sweetness preceding a subdued Parma Violet flavour.
- The finish fades to final notes of fresh liquorice root.
- The difference between creams and liqueurs arises out of the proportion of sugar employed -- a liqueur contains 100 grammes of sugar per liter at least, versus 250 grammes at least as regards a cream.
- Alcohol: 18%
- Bottle Size: 70cl
- Country: France
A little esoteric, but one bottle could last a lifetime! And, again, mixed with your house gin and lemon juice this time, you'll have an Aviation. Said to be named after the pioneering days of aeroplanes, its purply-blue colour is surely a welcome reminder of clear skies to come. - Manda Joyce, OWC
