The Free Thursday Tasting: Loire vs. Regional France. Thursday 03/07/14
Hosted by Lee Isaacs & Aljoscha Wright
The Oxford Wine Company, 165 Botley Road, Oxford, OX2 0PB.
As always this was a fun and relaxed tasting. Alas I could still not steal an outright win but all the wines got people thinking and stimulated plenty of conversation. Aljoscha's Anjou Chenin Blanc was very popular and considered to be much better than my regional off-dry blend. However, my Saint Chinian, a blend of Grenache and Syrah beats Aljoscha's Chinon hands down. What both winning wines had in common was silky smooth fruit and palate coating texture. Vive la France!
