Incredible And Inspiring Italy Thursday 16/10/14

I had been wanting to run an in depth Italian tasting for some time and finally found the opportunity. I love Italy and her wines and always find something new and interesting to talk about. This tasting was no exception and the sell out crowd enjoyed the mix of humour and story telling combined with plenty of information and of course the wines.
I showed some real powerhouses in this tasting and went all out to impress; this included a top Barolo and Brunello di Montalcino. The surprise winner of the night however was the magnificent Sagrantino di Montefalco. This had it all, earthiness, bitter cherry, compost, brambly fruit, smoke...I could go on. It really bowled everyone over. I finished with the deliciously sweet, almost Sherry style, Vin Santo which paired particularly well the Tiramisu I provided.
