Fine Wine at the Oxford Wine Company.
So how do you define a “Fine Wine?” This is a question I am asked all the time. The way that I see it is that a Fine Wine is a wine that can be of virtually of any price as long as it has been made with care. By care I mean serious attention to detail both in the vineyards and in the winery – low yields, carefully controlled fermentation and appropriate oak usage.
Fine Wines are wines that always have the individuality that comes from very special attention to winemaking, whether it be classic French producers that have honed their winemaking techniques over generations or modern New World producers who are pushing the boundaries of winemaking by bold experimentation in new winemaking areas of the world.
They can also be the product of cross fertilization between different types of winemakers. The permutations are endless, but the wines themselves are not. They are very often in high demand and short supply and there never seems to be enough of them to go round. If you do manage to get some into your glass though you might well find yourself wanting to repeat the experience on a regular basis!
If there is any wine you are particularly keen to find, please use our Fine Wine Search facility. If you can’t find what you are looking for on our list please contact me Theo Sloot or ring me on 01865 301144 and I will source the wine for you.
