Glasgow-based Douglas Laing & Co are independent Scotch Whisky bottlers and blenders headed by Fred Laing, who proved the value of nepotism when he succeeded his father, Fred Douglas Laing who founded the company in 1948. In 2013, Fred enlisted the third generation of Laing's and brought in his daughter Cara believing in the ethos of Women in Whisky - and why not? She worked at Whyte & Mackay for quite some years as Brand Manager of Jura Single Malt before moving on to market Bowmore and Glen Garioch Single Malts - an apprenticeship of some considerable note and value, with a deep love and appreciation of the Scotch Distillers art in general, and a soft spot for those 3 in particular. Today the company has a small but growing band of loyal followers around the world... From the Far East, to Europe, the USA to Russia... As such the passports of Fred and Jan, are very rarely in their desk drawers as they carry out extensive tastings throughout the year all over the world spreading the word about the spirit they love...
